Gel blaster is a team-based outdoor battle activity using toy guns that shoot small, soft, water-absorbing gel balls. The gel balls are approximately 8mm in diameter, completely biodegradable, and dissolve into the ground — so there's no messy clean-up afterward.

At Battle Kidz, gel blaster sessions take place in our outdoor arena under the trees at Huddle Park in Linksfield, Johannesburg. Players are kitted out with protective masks, handed a gel blaster gun, and divided into teams. Our Battle Kidz team then runs structured game modes — from classic team battles to capture-the-flag-style missions — keeping everyone moving, laughing and strategising the whole time.

What Is Laser Tag?

Laser tag is a completely contact-free team battle game. Players wear sensor vests and carry laser "tag" guns — when a player tags an opponent's vest sensor, it registers a hit. No projectiles, no impact, zero pain.

Our outdoor laser tag arena at Huddle Park gives players plenty of open space to run, take cover, and outmanoeuvre the opposing team. The Battle Kidz team runs exciting game modes and keeps score, so everyone knows who came out on top.

Which Activity Is Best for Younger Kids?

Both activities are designed with kids in mind and are safely run for children from age 5 upwards. However, if your group includes very young children or more sensitive kids, laser tag is often the better starting point.

Because laser tag involves zero projectiles and zero physical sensation on hit, younger or more cautious kids tend to feel immediately at ease. There's nothing to fear — just run, tag and have fun.

That said, many 5-year-olds absolutely love gel blaster on their very first session. The gear makes them feel like proper battle heroes, and the gel balls produce a satisfying pop without any real discomfort.
